We are seeking a seasoned Mainframe Developer with extensive experience in legacy system analysis, PL/I and COBOL development, and enterprise-level integration. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical and analytical skills, particularly in mainframe environments and integration between mainframe and distributed systems. This role is instrumental in maintaining and modernizing mission-critical systems while collaborating closely with cross-functional technical teams.


Responsibilities

·      Analyze existing system architecture, including logical and physical designs and code structures.

·      Assess technical database requirements and collaborate with DBAs to define and implement necessary changes.

·      Create technical specifications in line with established development standards.

·      Identify technical issues and provide effective mitigation strategies.

·      Prepare and deliver regular progress reports.

·      Conduct knowledge transfer to internal staff throughout the project lifecycle.

·      Follow direction from project leadership and ensure alignment with overall project goals.

·      Participate in Joint Application Design (JAD) sessions and walkthroughs to validate and finalize design specifications.

·      Develop new code and modify existing code for online, batch, and workstation applications.

·      Collaborate with mid-tier developers to ensure seamless system integration.

·      Ensure compliance with quality assurance (QA) standards in all system code and technical documentation.

·      Prepare test data and perform unit testing.

·      Support integration testing efforts, including test planning, environment setup, data creation, test execution, and defect resolution.

·      Plan and execute code retrofit in coordination with developers working on related modules.

·      Investigate and resolve reported defects.

·      Utilize code library management and source control tools effectively.


Qualifications

·      10+ years of experience in programming and analysis.

·      Recent experience (within the last 5 years) using PL/I V4.5 or higher.

·      Experience with Fujitsu NetCOBOL V4 or higher.

·      10+ years designing and developing Windows client applications integrated with IMS TM systems.

·      5+ years of experience developing mainframe PL/I applications that process XML and interact with external web services.

·      Experience with mainframe Screen Handling (MFS) and Windows workstation UI development using SCREENIO.

·      Proficiency with IMS DB V12 or higher using PLITDLI API.

·      Proficiency with DB2 for z/OS V11 or higher.

·      Hands-on experience with Endevor source control tool.

·      Experience developing checkpoint/restartable IMS BMP jobs.

·      Knowledge of SFTP scripting in a mainframe environment.

·      Experience with z/OS V2.2 or higher.

·      Expertise in using IBM Debug Tool V13.1 or higher.

·      Familiarity with file/database tools such as File Aid V10.1 or IBM File Manager V13.1.

·      Experience with diagnostic tools like Abend Aid V12.4 or IBM Fault Analyzer V13.1.

·      Proficiency with the IBM DFSORT utility.

·      Experience using Visual Studio 2008 or higher and its debugger.

·      Familiarity with Harvest Source Control V12.5 or higher.


Pay range for this position is between 85-92/hr depending on fit and experience.
