Our client, a leading organization in the higher education sector, is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead a critical HRIS upgrade and implementation project. This is a 12-month contract starting July 2, 2025, with the potential for a two-year extension based on project needs. The role requires 28 hours per week (4 days/week, 7-hour workdays) during standard business hours (8:30 AM to 4:30 PM CT), with a hybrid work arrangement (1-2 days onsite).
Responsibilities:
• Lead the end-to-end management of an enterprise-level HRIS implementation, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and on budget.
• Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and budgets using tools like Microsoft Project or similar.
• Facilitate workshops and planning sessions with diverse stakeholders to align project goals.
• Collaborate with technical architects to manage system integrations.
• Mitigate risks, manage issues, and communicate progress using collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy and security requirements in partnership with relevant teams.
• Apply PMI PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile methodologies to drive project success.
• Support change management to ensure smooth adoption of the new system.
• Occasionally perform business analyst tasks, such as requirements gathering.
Qualifications:
• Certification: PMI PMP or PRINCE2 certification required.
Experience:
• 7+ years of project management experience, with a focus on enterprise-level projects involving system integrations.
• Proven track record leading HRIS implementation projects.
• Expertise in application/package selection and implementation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Project (or similar) and collaboration tools (Teams, SharePoint).
Availability:
• Available 28 hours/week (4 days, 7 hours/day) from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM CT.
• Able to work onsite 1-2 days/week without additional travel costs.
• Available to start July 2, 2025.
Skills:
• Strong IT foundation, with experience in infrastructure and integration projects.
• Excellent stakeholder management and facilitation skills.
• Nice-to-Haves
• Experience as a Project Manager in a Canadian higher education setting.
• Familiarity with HRIS systems or similar enterprise platforms.
• Background in managing complex, multi-stream projects.
• Expertise in organizational change management.
• Experience in multi-union environments or with collective bargaining units.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies and sprint-based project management.
• Prior collaboration with privacy or information security teams.
• Program management experience.
• Ability to take on business analyst responsibilities when needed.
