On behalf of our client, Affinity is seeking an IT Project Manager for an 8 month contract. Candidates should be located in Edmonton for some on site work.


We are seeking a skilled Project Manager to support and lead the delivery of IT initiatives, with a primary focus on software solution migration projects. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in project planning, stakeholder engagement, risk and issue management, and cross-functional team leadership. This role requires close collaboration with both IT and business units to ensure timely and successful project delivery. Experience in Organizational Change Management (OCM) is a valuable asset.


Roles, Responsibilities, and Qualifications

Role Description

The Project Manager manages the end-to-end project management life cycle, from initiation, planning, execution, control, and close-out phases, and is responsible for the successful delivery of solutions. The role involves a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and project management proficiency.


Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate the full project lifecycle, including planning and design sessions, testing, training, product demos, and solution adoption.
  • Manage solution adoption strategies as part of a multi-disciplinary project team.
  • Manage vendor relationships and coordinate issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to support desired project outcomes.
  • Facilitate on-the-job learning of essential concepts and tools that promote the adoption of modern service delivery and transformation within Alberta Innovates.
  • Identify and manage project risks and issues and develop strategies to proactively address them.
  • Navigate changes in direction, priorities, and expectations to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Manage communication to improve transparency and disseminate information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Negotiate agreements regarding resource requirements and adjust team composition as needed.
  • Identify and remove roadblocks and distractions that affect the project lifecycle.
  • Mitigate conflicts and ensure timely resolution.
  • Maintain project metrics and use project management tools to track progress and ensure quality.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations, project progress updates, and financial reporting.
  • Perform other responsibilities as required or requested.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Agile and/or Waterfall project management methodologies.
  • 5+ years of experience in project management.
  • Experience with application development methodologies.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive Information Technology experience with broad IT knowledge.
  • Possession of PMP and/or PRINCE2 certification.
