This is a chance to engineer the cloud backbone for data-driven and life-impacting digital products, helping build scalable, secure, and reliable systems that enable innovation and improve lives across Canada.
This role is part of a growing team focused on modernizing cloud infrastructure to improve scalability, reliability, and speed-to-market for digital initiatives. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical knowledge in Azure, automation, and observability, with curiosity and adaptability to contribute to emerging AI-driven operations (AIOps).
This position reports to the Senior Manager, Cloud Infrastructure & AI Operations and plays a key role in shaping a secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud environment. This is a remote position, with occasional travel to the Toronto office.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Infrastructure Architecture & Operations
- Design, implement, and manage scalable Azure environments across web, mobile, and data platforms (including Azure SQL, Data Factory, Databricks, and Synapse).
 - Ensure resiliency, observability, and compliance (PCI, PHIPA) in all cloud operations.
 - Act as an escalation point for complex cloud incidents and contribute to root-cause analysis.
 - Develop and maintain disaster recovery documentation and best practices.

Automation & DevOps
- Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates).
 - Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automate infrastructure provisioning and deployments.
 - Continuously reduce manual tasks through automation and improve system reliability.

Observability & Monitoring
- Configure Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights for proactive visibility.
 - Develop automated alerting, dashboards, and incident response workflows.
 - Monitor and optimize performance, uptime, and recovery objectives.

AIOps Enablement
- Contribute to early adoption of AIOps practices such as predictive monitoring, anomaly detection, and automated incident correlation.
 - Collaborate with IT leadership to integrate AI-driven insights into daily operations and enhance reliability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with product, cybersecurity, and data teams to ensure cloud solutions align with business goals.
 - Share knowledge and mentor peers on automation, observability, and cloud best practices.
 - Contribute to the infrastructure roadmap and documentation standards.

Qualifications
- 7+ years of infrastructure engineering experience, with 3+ years in Microsoft Azure.
 - Proven experience designing and supporting enterprise-grade cloud environments.
 - Strong background in Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
 - Proficient in Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, and scripting languages (Python preferred).
 - Deep technical knowledge of Azure compute, networking, identity, and storage services.
 - Hands-on experience with observability tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights).
 - Strong understanding of security, compliance, and governance frameworks.
 - Exposure to AI/ML concepts and interest in developing AIOps capabilities.
 - Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
 - Adaptable and proactive — able to work effectively across technical and business teams.
 - Azure certifications (AZ-305, AZ-400) are assets.
