Apply for Senior Software Engineer

On behalf of our client, Affinity is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to support and enhance our Funding Desk System which is a critical web application for Repo transaction management and reporting. This role requires strong technical skills and the ability to understand business requirements in a financial context. The successful candidate will deliver rapid, incremental value to internal clients, focusing on efficiency, speed, and quality of workflows in a regulated financial environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIE

• Design, develop, and maintain complex single-page applications using React, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript (ES6+)

• Build and optimise backend services with Node.js and Express.js

• Develop and maintain SQL databases (MS SQL Server), including T-SQL, stored procedures, and performance optimization

• Implement and manage REST APIs and authentication systems (OAuth 2.0, SAML, or similar)

• Deploy, monitor, and support applications on the Azure cloud platform (App Services)

• Manage version control and collaborative workflows using Git, BitBucket, and Jira

• Document technical solutions and share knowledge using Confluence

• Support incident and change management processes using ServiceNow

• Develop Power Apps and .NET code as required

• Provide production support, troubleshoot issues, and manage incidents

• Engage with stakeholders and communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences

• Work independently and make technical decisions aligned with business and technology

strategy

• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and deliver software increments in an adaptive, iterative manner

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Technical Skills:

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience

• Strong expertise in TypeScript and modern JavaScript (ES6+)

• Proficient in React and building complex single-page applications

• Solid Node.js and Express.js backend development experience

• Strong SQL skills with experience in MS SQL Server (T-SQL, stored procedures, performance optimization)

• Experience with REST API design and implementation

• Azure cloud platform experience (App Services, deployment, monitoring)

• Authentication systems implementation (OAuth 2.0, SAML, or similar enterprise solutions)

• Version control with Git and collaborative development workflows

• Jira or similar project management and issue tracking tools

• BitBucket repository management and pull request workflows

• Confluence for technical documentation and knowledge sharing

• ServiceNow for incident and change management

• Power Apps development experience

• .NET code experience

Domain Knowledge:

• Understanding of financial systems and transaction processing

• Experience working in regulated environments (financial services, banking, or similar)

• Knowledge of data integrity and audit trail requirements

Professional Skills:

• Strong problem-solving and debugging abilities

• Experience with production support and incident management

• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement

• Ability to work independently and make technical decisions

• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies

Preferred:

Technical Skills:

• Experience with Okta or similar identity providers

• Knowledge of Radix UI or similar headless component libraries

• Experience with TanStack Query (React Query) for data fetching

• Tailwind CSS styling experience

• Recharts or other data visualization libraries

• Vite build tool experience

• Experience with session management and security best practices

Domain Knowledge:

• Repo (Repurchase Agreement) market knowledge

• Treasury operations or fixed income experience

• Pension fund operations understanding

• Experience with Bloomberg or other financial data providers

Additional Skills:

• Experience with Azure DevOps or CI/CD pipelines

• Knowledge of database performance tuning and indexing strategies

• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (Application Insights, etc.)

• Experience with automated testing (Jest, Vitest, Playwright)

• Previous experience modernizing legacy applications
