On behalf of our public sector client, Affinity is looking for a Senior Project Manager with strong experience leading complex infrastructure and technology initiatives. The Senior Project Manager will monitor progress, proactively identify and mitigate risks, and communicate effectively with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. This role requires hands-on leadership to facilitate collaboration across agile teams, manage multiple vendors, resolve issues, and successfully deliver complex transitions and migrations.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize established project management methodologies, processes, and governance gates; create and manage standard project management artifacts including project plans, scope, budget, schedules, timelines, risk registers, and status reports, with a focus on effective delivery of data center, network, and cloud initiatives.
  • Lead initial project planning activities including soliciting estimates, gathering requirements and user stories, incorporating change management practices, establishing timelines, and monitoring progress to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Plan and manage data center and network consolidation initiatives, including infrastructure migration, virtualization, and cloud integration activities.
  • Coordinate and manage multiple vendors, internal technical teams, and external partners to ensure alignment, accountability, and successful delivery across interdependent infrastructure initiatives.
  • Proactively identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and manage change throughout complex infrastructure and technology transitions.
  • Ensure compliance with information privacy, security assessments, and project governance standards, escalating unresolved risks and issues as required.
  • Monitor project deliverables to ensure they meet quality standards and align with project requirements, including managing testing activities as required.
  • Produce clear, accurate project documentation including project plans, status reports, meeting minutes, and other artifacts for communication, audit, and future reference.
  • Execute and support other project activities and tasks as reasonably required.

Qualfications

  • Degree or equivalent diploma in technology or a related field, supplemented by formal project management training and certification (PMP preferred or PRINCE2).
  • Minimum 5 years of recent, related experience in a senior project management or leadership role delivering complex data center, network, or infrastructure-focused initiatives in an agile or hybrid delivery environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with data center and network architecture, including:
    • Network consolidation and modernization
    • Virtualization technologies
    • Cloud platforms and migration strategies in enterprise environments
  • Solid cloud and networking fundamentals, including working knowledge of routing, switching, firewalls, load balancers, and cloud integration to support effective decision-making and issue resolution.
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple vendors and stakeholders across internal teams, agile delivery teams, and external partners.
  • Demonstrated strength in risk and change management, including proactively identifying risks, developing mitigation plans, and managing change during complex infrastructure transitions.
  • Experience delivering large-scale technology initiatives such as hardware refreshes, platform migrations, or enterprise system implementations.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, scheduling, and time-management skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.
  • Experience working with predictive, agile, hybrid, and Kanban methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues quickly and develop practical solutions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and MS Project.
  • Experience working within a public sector or highly regulated environment is preferred.
